Who We Are
Jessica Whitehead currently resides in Milledgeville, Georgia, and is mom to Jayden and Izabella, as well as her three beloved Dachshunds. In 2022, she decided to take up photography as a hobby and began exploring the grounds of Central State Hospital, once the world’s largest asylum. Jessica worked in the mental health field for over 13 years, and she has spent the last 9 years working in the court system, first in Juvenile Court, and now as the assistant to a Superior Court Judge. Jessica feels a special connection to the hospital and to those suffering from the difficulties of mental health diagnoses. She hopes her photography inspires others to see the beauty in the imperfect and encourages others to become advocates for those whose voices are muffled by suffering.
While Jessica started her photography journey photographing the hospital, she has now added many other types of photos to her portfolio. As she continues to explore light, texture, and contrast in her photography, she is inspired by the peace and tranquility she finds with each snap of the camera, in what is often a difficult and beautiful world.
